NEW PERSPECTIVE?

NEW PERSPECTIVE?

Finally got home early and catch "心晴大动员2" after missing 2 episodes when they started season 2 since 2 weeks ago.

This is one of the best reality show i've seen.
i've always got so much thoughts after watching every episode.

Each of the episodes pictures how terrible living conditions are and most of the time, they always have illnesses bugging them.

Today the 3rd episode (in case you didnt catch it) was talking about 2 guys & their dad. they live in those one room kind of flat, with dad having diabetes & pyschological problem since young and both sons having mild pyschological problems which can be controlled by medication.
The 2 sons look normal not as bad as other episodes where you can see their difference through physically. But indeed the elder of the 2 are acting more weirdly.
and so, their mom died when they're like on average 11 and they took long to overcome their saddness as they're very close with their mom and they relied on their mom alot. ever since, the house had turned into a total crap! dirty, unhygienic...etc but the weird thing is that they found almost no roaches in their house. WHY? from most of the episodes we see, roaches were the most famous occupants in houses but why not this particular house?

COS THEY HARDLY HAVE ENOUGH FOOD, NOT TO SAY LEFTOVERS.

is this exaggerating or what? even roaches have found the wrong place to stay in, it will just die of hunger as well. (when they eventually found one, and both hosts and volunteers agreed tt it has stay in the wrong house, lol)

you know seriously, if not for this show, i wouldnt be able to know that there are actually people THIS poor living in spore, not that im well-to-do or looking down on them but rather surprise. i know there are people who are poor but if they didnt go deep in to help them, i wouldnt know that they are living on $360 per month given out by some organizations, deducting electricity bills, house taxes, tv taxes, the left overs are tiny, it can barely feed 3 of them.
so this explains why there are not leftover food as there are NOT EVEN ENOUGH to go around. where are the leftovers?? they even have to store water in the fridge just to fill their tummys when they're hungry!

The most heartbreaking thing is when hosts ask the brothers what are the things they want to eat the most? one said Kuay Chiap, the other Fried Carrot Cake and they haven had it for A YEAR! if we didnt have it for a year, it will be only be bcos we dont feel like eating them or they are too unhealthy and oily la, but they? the reason is simple they cant afford to eat it! so, during lunch, hosts bought them what they wanted and big packet of chicken rice for their dad. the moment the host step in, they ask what the brothers were doing when they went for lunch and they were actually drinking water as they're feeling hungry! they were given the food and at once, their eyes brightened up! they all gobbled down the food.

Like the host said, initally they felt great to see them eating but after awhile, the heart breaking feeling hit and both went out with tears filled in their eyes. ME TOO. this very moment my eyes were wet as well. it was so obvious tt they haven had a filling meal since duno when.

the end was much less the same. helping them revamp their house, clean it up, put in new furnitures and such.
But the main point is we have all seen how they lived and what they have been thru. Ask yourself, will you be able to be as strong as them if once day you were like them. i would most probably kill myself. (okay, a bit stupid.)

It just simply shows us how fortunate we are though we might not be very well-to-do but at least we can get a pack of chicken rice or carrot cake easily. but most of the time we are still unsatisfied (but these are the things that they see as most important). we tend to buy things that we see on impulse (but these are the things that they rather exchange it for food or maybe something even more useful).

my point is, i guess we get things too easily and too for granted.

everytime the after-watching-feeling is always oh "i have to spend wisely, look at these people, im seriously such a spoilt", "no more buying nail polishes or unwanted things, no more resturants...etc", "i wish to help out if i can" but regarding thought 3, mommy was super bad. she said "forget it la, if you go, you see roaches, maybe you still need to ask the ah peh in clutches to help you kill. dont go there and make them even more busy!"

like !!!???!!!

but i really hope to help mah.
and i know myself and my bff too well. we indeed have tis kind of feeling-guilty-trying-to-repent-thoughts, but i know WE CAN'T DO IT.

it's just habit of having good things.
hai. God Bless all of them <3
